Single pole MCB with neutral can only cut the phase line, and the nertural line remains continuous. While double pole MCB can cut both phase line & nertural line.

I'm not aware that neutrals are switched with a CB, as I can think of several reasons not to. Please fill me in about your answer. I would have answered the 2 pole MCB was for 2 phases with neutral either separate or not in the circuit, and the 1 pole MCB for a single phase to neutral circuit.

A single pole with neural is an earth leackage device the current in the neutral is monitored to ensure it matches the phase line it is not interupted if the MCB trips. a double pole MCB is used to isolate and monitor for overload a 2 Phase supply. On no account should a neutral line go through an MCB.

I want to use MCB for Temp. scanner which works on 230VAC supply. Should I go for SP MCB or DP MCB, kindly comment

there's an MCB with 1P+N if you'd like.

just to be safe I'd go with two pole.

If in doubt, consult a local qualified Electrician.

1P+N is a single pole breaker and a neutral disconnect switch, so when the breaker is open; both line and neutral are diconnected.

the difference between it and the double pole breaker is: double pole breaker is equipped with arc extinguishing mechanism for both lines were the 1P+N is equipped for arc extinguishing only for the pole line but not for the neutral.

...which means that the line conductor breaks first and the neutral conductor second.
