Hi,

I am not aware of a program that would calculate, indicate or provide info. as to what kind of cable tray or ladder to use. However, Øglænd systems are the biggest manufacturer of all kinds of "fasteners, holders and trays" that produce trays for offshore industry in Norway. (you name it, they have it)

Try www.oglaend-system.com

Also try to send an email to harald.oksenvad@oglsys.no and ask him for help.

Remember the time difference if not in Europe.

If you do find what you want, then please let me know so I can claim my cut on my next order- hahaha

Good luck

I do not know if there is a software only for this purpose, but a program like Smartplant Electrical trying to accomodate some of the heat effect and derating in the software calculation. But for the proper loading, derating of cable and type of cable tray, if you are in Canada follow the CEC or in US NEC code books.

You could also go to the design center of b-line (a cooper company). In this link you will find calculation information to get to the right size and type:

http://www.b-line.com/engineer/Calculations.asp then select the NEC version (if in the US)

And this link will help you design the layout on autocad. Is a really neat tool that saves a lot of time.

http://www.b-line.com/engineer/Software.asp then go to Tray CAD 4.0

Those links plus a good understanding of the NEC specially article 392 will take you to the right type.

Hope that helps.
