Looking for Inexpensive Solenoid Valve

12/18/2008 8:22 PM

I need a 1/2" or 3/4" NPT solenoid valve, AC or DC actuated, preferably N/O, for a small scale project I am working on and I don't want to put a lot of money into it. ASCO and other big name manufatures of industrial solenoid valves have what I need but they are $300+. I only need something for a residential use so it doesn't need to be so robust. Does anyone know of a place or manufacture that has more affordable solenoid valves for the pipe size I need? Thanks.

Go to ebay.com, that great flea market of the internet, and type "Solenoid Valve" in the search window. Find one you like and bid on it. If you don't get the first one, there will be another. If you keep loosing, bid HIGHER and soon a box with a solenoid valve inside will arrive at your house.

There are other auction sites, some lean more to industrial type stuff but you can't beat the 'bay for just plain old variety. If you only have $10.00 bid $10.00 if it is the valve you want.

Good luck!

Try a lawn sprinkler valve, available at Home Depot, about 25 bucks, 24VAC

Cheers

I use a lot of solenoids that do what you require. I purchase mine from Grainger.

I've got several valves of that size with various coil voltages both AC and DC just sitting around. I could send you one if you'de like. What body material and seal material are you needing?

Go to www.dwyer.com. They sell direct and most of their stuff is right off the shelf. They have a lot of very inexpensive solenoid valves, among other items too.

A water shut off on my parents water line. They are not able to go to the basement to cut the water off when they leave so I am installing a zone valve and a switch to shut off the water.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I appreciate it.

Hope y'all have a happy new year.
