Why don't you just use a calculator?! Is it that hard to find out how much a cubic cm of the metal weighs? You'll still have to figure out how many cm3's you have.

He probably doesnt know the specific gravity of the metal and needs direction to such information.

Some practical advise: Substitution of the word, we, for I is almost invariably a tell-tale that the speaker is being deceptive in some way. Better to be genuine in advance if you want credibility (and good will) in response.

Said another way: why should anyone care (in this instance) about what you and other, unseen needy, have a desperate need for? Let all of you come forth and explain...why you alone must go begging (by way of "urgent" demand) for the answer.

(Or is this just part of a homework assignment that you can't, or don't want to, do?)
