Who knows this new type Camera? Single pixel.

Its not uncommon to hear million pixels camera, even tens million pixels camera. you might also hear one bit stream which can match with 16bits AD in quality, But have you ever heard of single pixel camera ? this may be unique, that can work in whole band frequencies from UV to infrared scale.

From week newsletter of TI in my mailbox, I was told that a socalled rica university sciencists develope a single pixel camera, it can work either viewable light or uv or infrared parts. its wonderful.

Any one out there knows more about it? and can you give us more explaination?

Just recall how scanner is operating. Here's a line of pixels moving over picture. So having used sophisticated optic (no mechanic controlled) and very fast communication protocol, spectral filtering for colour recognition it's believed as possible. I'm supposing overall imagine will end up as making up of millions of pixels. It was just my supposition how it could be implemented. I think someone here has more specific info of that.

Hi Cnpower. Milo here.

its pretty old news, actually. however, I have heard that they are trying this on terahertz frequencies for security purposes.

Think of a sigma-delta a/d converter, with a one bit comparator.

A while back i was tinkering with a one bit camera. The motion of the pinhole was generated mechanically using 2 disks. One had a slot extending straight from the center to the edge. The other spiraled from the edge to the center in one rotation. The result would be a very slow rotating radial scan. The could be augmented with more pixels that were sensitive to different parts of the spectrum.
