Vaya con Dios, Amigos

12/30/2008 3:35 PM

The posts during the last few weeks have baffled me. I've been an engineer and scientist all my life; I'm just not up to dealing with BS claims about hydrogen and anti-science attacks. It's not that I'm personally bothered but, like Forest Gump, I just don't have anything more to say about that.

I'm withdrawing from the forum. I'll make no more posts and I'll read no more posts.

I have truly enjoyed chatting with some of you - Sparky, Milo, Cnpower, Nick Name, Del, Ken, Fyz (just those I can think of immediately); thanks for your good information.

Till we meet again.

No need for you to leave. I totally understand where your coming from, but you can't let it get to you. There are people here who value your opinion, focus on that instead.

OK, OK, I got your drift....I am leaving.

P.S. "Vaya con Dios" is to be said by the one who stays to those who are leaving....

Hello TVP45:

I sincerely hope this was just a joke, or you intend to take a hiatus, and not really leave.

I'm not taking you literally, hopefully you'll read this post and the ones that I'm sure will follow. In the year that I've been on this site I have enjoyed reading your post, and never was concerned about having any BS included. You have not only been a source of good information but also a source of moral encouragement.

It may well be impossible to win the fight against the scam artist, at least we can let them know they were in a fight, maybe a few people won't get taken that otherwise would have, if they have access to accurate information.

As you have noticed I became very quite in the last time. I have the feeling that the discussion level goes down and the forum is no more a technical-scientific one but a place to aggress those who do not share same way of thinking.

However I consider that the forum brings me a quite interesting information about the way the term "engineer" is understood and what kind of problems "engineers" are confronted with.

According to a last comment which made me smile I am not a technical man!

Do not go away it is good to have you among us and if there are interesting subjects to discuss we can always use the PM channel.

I played with the idea to say "good bye" (or to use your approach "asta la vista") but I changed my mind.

There have been some subjects discussed with great passion and which were totally "empty", the subject could have been lead to a final response in a few comments and it took over 100 to come to almost nothing.

Several months ago I made the remark that the answers should be a help for the one who has the problem and not a way to show how much we know about all subjects in world but apparently many of the participants use the forum mainly to show how clever they are. many times they use to impress notions the wrong way but the words are complex. According to a study made by an American university the more sophisticated and un comprehensible the text is the more it is considered of a higher level. this is also in the forum to be noticed.

But all that is not a reason to leave!

Wish you a happy and healthy 2009 an hope to have good news in a few days : that you changed your mind.

Knowledge is a personal asset, and those who are without are underprivileged, and seek ways to find answers, and in doing so have to expose their ignorance. This is annoying, and as with the haves and the have nots, it is easier to turn ones back, than deal with the problem. A lot of us came up the hard way, and would like to say thank you to those that extended a helping hand. Thank you CR4.

Regards JD.

Please stay. Most of us value your input. The only ones that don't are the "water-for-gas" "over-unity" "free-energy" scammers who don't belong here anyway. If you're so sick of these guys that you want to quit, perhaps you can report their postings for deletion instead. I know some of them are truly aggravating: guys like Ragavan and his endless complaints about education, Toomuchfun and his "water-for-gas" scams and obnoxious behavior, and Waro for condemning people for believing in science instead of bullshit, but they're just a loud-mouthed minority.

Maybe all of us here should team up and shout these guys down so that sensible guys like you will stay while jerk-offs like them leave. If they think making a lot of noise makes their bullshit right, then maybe we should make much more noise to drown them out instead.

Agreed, I have only been here for a little over a month and got irritated with that crap right away. It almost swayed me from reading more from others who seem to be real scientists and engineers. To which I'm glad I have stayed tuned. For the actually few idiots I've seen here, I just ignore. Quite frankly if you don't bother to acknowledge their crap they wont come back. A quick note to their bad science and to not respond back when they try to come back with more poop keeps them away. Making it clear once and not to responds seems to work well. It bugs the crap out of them, but they soon leave and get the picture. So I won't be redundant further.

TVP45 I have respect for your comments in past threads that I've read. DO NOT EVEN give these scamer idiots the satisfaction by pulling out. I will loose respect for that. We value good science and engineering minds like yours.

Tim

Sorry to see you go. Didn't even get to debate evolution. Sigh...

TVP, I read somewhere

"Great wisdom is generous; petty wisdom is contentious."

Be generous in patience, perhaps by utilizing the "report" button earlier on we can collectively deter the nusiance element.
