Converting Air Pressure Measurements

01/09/2009 12:37 AM

Greetings CR4 members,

There is a specification we got for 1600cc of air pressure.

Any suggestions or answers regarding the conversion of this pressure to BAR or PSI

You can't. (unless you had more information such as number of moles / weight / temperature)

1600 cc is a volume: cc = cubic centimeter

You need a seperate/more detailed spec to indicate required pressure.

Unless there is other information in your document, they are wrong.

CC's is a volume measure. PSI, Pascals or other pressure measures are force per unit area.

Dear Mr. talos,

We have come across few cases where the tender Document itself is wrong. Some times MISTAKE(S)/ERROR(S) DO HAPPEN. We have to excercise our CAUTION/ALERTNESS.

As other CR4 members, expressed "cc" is VOLUME.

Here is a Free Program called Convert:

Which will handle BAR to PSI. (1 BAR is 100 KPa - 14.504 PSI)

1600cc of air pressure for what? Many times you can use assumptions to arrive at your answer. Like, assuming the power delivered, the size of the piping and the ambient temperature, you can find a relatively close answer.

cc is most often a designation of volume, cubic centimeters, not a designation of pressure. Volume cannot be converted to any pressure format. You require more data.
