How to read ( Valves, flanges , Bolts & Nuts ...etc ) Specs ...?

01/13/2009 5:16 AM

Good Day

I have been going through a lot of specs lately for Valves , Fitting , Flanges , Gaskets , Bolt & Nuts ..............etc

but I couldn't really understand the symbols used to describe each item as in ( Bolt M20-130 , Pressure Rating Classes for Valves & Flanges #150 , # 300 ....18"x16" Ecc Reducer Sch 40 C.S.....etc ) where is the best site to go to to learn about these things

Best Regards

Flange #600 .... this mean 600psi

Valve #300.... = 300psi

Pressure raiting.

It's depend from operating pressure and tampreture

NO!! That is not correct.

The proper terminology, these days is Class 150, 300, 600, .... - the '#' designation is outdated and was to be referred to as "pound" - either way it is not directly correlated to psi.

Please see this site for pressure-temperature ratings of B16.5 flanges

http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/ansi-flanges-pressure-temperature-d_342.html

NOTE: That these numbers have changed somewhat from this table to the 2003 ed.

and this site for dimensions:

Thanxs a lot Mr Abdl el Halim

for your useful links and answers , one more further thing I need to ask , when trying to make a Purchase order and sending the venders the descriptions for it ( whether it is a Valve , Flange, Fittings, Nipples, Nozzles.....etc ) what will be the guidline to follow so that we will not be wasting both our and the vendor time , through email asking for further clarification ( I think that is more related to procurment ......)
