200-hp DC Motor - Field Winding Connections

01/26/2009 3:31 AM

WE have a 200hp DC Motor in which the Field Winding connections became undone.

Can some help by providing a diagram of how the seriec field and the compole windings should be connected in relation to the amature.

Hello, Please take care that your motor is of type Cumulative compound or Differential Compound. Practically Differential compound motors are seen very very rare. I think it should be cumulative compound only. In the Compound motors - Short shunt and Long shunt type are available. Please refer google there are plenty of info. available Thanks, Vinod

With literally hundreds of types/styles of DC motors out there (if not thousands), and with each person who sees your post having experience with a different-specific motor themselves ... how many different responses do you think you might get...?

Not all motors are alike. As opposed to me listing all the different tidbits that YOU need to provide in order to get THE correct response, here ... why don't you upload some photos somewhere, and return here to provide LINKS to those pictures, and provide some more data on your motor... {ok; like, manufacturer, model#, number of field coils, commutating poles, etc.}... I'm sure that all would like to hear what application your motor is serving, just for "chat's-sake".

Cheers ~~~

Yes indeed ... much too dangerous to just guess how to connect this motor. From the identification plate you can find the manufacterer and the serial number. Get in contact with the manufacterer and he will give you all necessary conection details.
