Need a HMI for Rexroth VT-HNC100-1-2X/-W-24-P-0

02/01/2009 1:19 PM

Dear All,

My hydraulic system have a axis controller that is VT-HNC100-1-2X/-W-24-P-0. Please give me any recommendation for me to choose a HMI for it via Profibus.

Best regards,

HT

Hello hatien...

I beleive that Rexroth comes with WinView / WinPED to give the operator a graphical interface and control. Is there something wrong with this software package..?

Typically, most HMI's can communicate with smart devices such as the VT-HNC100. In this case it depends on Rexroth's openness. You mentioned that the device communicates via Profibus, and I also believe that the controller has a Com port built in for perhaps serial RS232/485 communication.

There are communication drivers for both of these open protocols... so my short answer without getting into consulting fees.. :) would be yes. Some HMI vendors communicate with other hardware better (more easily) because they are not tied to a specific hardware companys.

SUMMARY: I would first investigate the HMI that comes with the Rexroth controller. You may have what you need, without having to buy anything. If this satisfies your "need" for an HMI, then BRAVO. If Winview / WinPED does not deliver what you need from an HMI, then investigate the myriad of other vendors. I would again surmise that because WinView can do it, so can others with relative ease. Identify your true needs, then make a good decision.

thx - Rudy

Lately we've been using the CMore from Automation Direct. Very easy to program, connects via USB or ethernet. I've never interfaced with it via Profibus but I have with Modbus, ethernet and DeviceNet.
