DEAR GUESTS, PLEASE READ!

02/03/2009 9:50 AM

Yes the caps mean I'm shouting, but this is only to get your attention. We've all been through this before, but this is to inform and help all the newbies on this forum.

GUEST does not tell us who you are, where your located, how to get in touch with you, and a myriad of other information. Many times questions are asked over and over again because you have not registered. Once you register and ask a question, you will be notified via e-mail that an update or answer has been added to the forum. Make sure you click on the "Yes, email me as new comments are added" at the bottom of the page that you enter the question on. Otherwise going to the "recently asked questions" does not always allow you to see the newest forums and questions or let you know you have an answer.

If your here for only one question HELP ME with my homework, you can always opt out of the site by removing your name from the registry later. AND you will always know when your question has been answered!

C'mon guest's help us to help you!

And also please help us with all details, else we will not be able to help you.

No point in asking us

"Why did my motor burn?"

It can be a myriad of things.

Exactly! Three days later when no further information has arrived, it's due to not being registered and getting notified of the information requested. By then we've all given up waiting for additional details. No wonder they never get answered completely.

Are you hopeful, that the notorious guests will listen to your appeal? I do not hope. Only way is we with names/ IDs should stop responding to any guest. Let Mr. Guest also take some other name.

Recently other thread "Why so many guests?" is also running with no output.

Your is a possessive word, such as your answer, your question, your name, etc. If you mean you are, such as where you are located, you are here, or you are nuts, then the correct word is you're. You used the wrong word twice in your answer. Guest's also indicates a possessive. If you wanted to indicate plural the correct word is guests without the apostrophe. No one appointed you as supreme commander. This is an open forum. If you don't want to read a post then don't read it.

Dear Guest,

That's very good advice which, of course, also applies to answers. That is, if you don't want to read answer a post then don't read answer.

I've also observed that "guests" are more likely to ask a question, receive one or more responses, and provide no feedback to the responders.

You are correct, this is an open forum, but it remains a privilege; not a right.

Yes! It's true! It's true! I'm suffering from subliminal intrapsychic manifestations of a reverse scoptophiliac. So it's hard for me to write in the approved manner. I shall try to do better.

I believe My post was entered as a suggestion to take under advice, not as an answer.

I agree that the thread starter shouldn't post anonymously. Particularly with vague 1 liner questions.

Though sometimes it's nice to be anonymous when you "must" write something out of character. ...even though nobody on this board will ever know who we really are. ...though the technology to do so does exist.

I agree, this is aggravating when I answer a guest question and then see a new reply from a guest, I can't tell if it were the original guest or a new one some of the time.

If we all posted as Guests one day, as an experiment, I'd bet many Guests would be so distressed they would become members.

I have a great CR4 friend who used to come in as Guest. He help me a lot with my questions on solid piping. i'd call him "my know it all" friend. Finally he registered as "GUEST" making it easy for me to correspond with him. Then recently XMECH started contributing and he mentioned he was the first Guest. Good he too is now registered.

I believe the word "guess and guessing" was invented from "Guest". So with all the Guest coming start the guessing and make your own "Who can be who so".

Re: DEAR GUESTS, PLEASE READ!

I post as a guest only because I have been banned from posting as a registered user.

It seems I got into an argument with another registered user, made fun of him, and got kicked out.

I have asked to see if there is anything that could be done to resolve the issue, but was told no.

My IP address is blocked so if I need to post, I have to go to an IP address that has not been banned yet.

Hi guys, I miss you all!

Sorry to hear that. Arguments are a part of CR4 for there is no reason why one should agree 100% to the other but taking care you do not offend is the name of the game.

Posting your comment as " Your is a possessive word, such as your answer, your question, your name, etc. If you mean you are, such as where you are located, you are here, or you are nuts, then the correct word is you're."

Now this is offending. Sorry is a small 5-letter word often helps.

Re: DEAR GUESTS, PLEASE READ!

My suggestion is that you post as a Guest with a name and contact in the body of the post. I do have great respect for the administrators. I had been made aware that some guests were posting as guests because they had had altercations and been kicked off. I think twice in the past two years I myself have come close. I got angry with Europorium about something to do with a Physics thread. And I said one of my friends was being arrogant. In both cases I wrote private notes as facilitated by the site. You seem contrite and wanting to mend fences. Who did you have the conflict with? Can you appeal to them directly with an apology? Truly I understand what it is to be ostrosized. It truly is a wonderful thing when conflicts are resolved and enemies become friends. Of things to figure out how to do, I myself wonder if it is greater engineering than building a dam or a bridge or an engine.

I'd agree with you that it is a greater engineering and CR4 administrators should reconsider and reactivate a person's account with a warning to continue
