Alternatives to Micro Fuel Cells in Oxygen Analyzers

02/03/2009 2:22 PM

Dear Friends, i request to know any of the various alternatives available in India, other than using micro fuel cell, to measure the content of oxygen (in ppm) in the on line oxygen analyser connected in the panel of the Nitrogen manufacturing plant. This is required to avoid the frequent replacement of the micro fuel cell in the online oxygen analyser and the related running cost.

Regards.

Why don't you check out Beckman O2 analyser which works on the paramagnetic properties of O2 and can be installed in a continuous flow circuit there is no degradation of the sensing cell in use.

Just make sure you run your calibration mix at regular intervals

i understand u r measuring oxygen in Nitrogen.for the trace level microfuel is the best.paramagnetic for ppm is not recommended.zirconium is also supplied by servomex but I feel as zirconium works at min 500 C if HC are there in the sample your trace oxygen will be converted to CO2 and zirconium sensor will be showing nil.it is very risky.I would like to recommend to install two microfuel cell type analyzers in paralell, calibrate them on different times, when sample not available keep purged with nitrogen from storage or maintain positive pressure ,to protect from ambient oxygen of 209000 ppm.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful suggestion.. I will definetely consider this. I had some faint hope that there may be some technology by use of which i can have an alternative method to meet the requirement...

Thank you again..
