I've never heard of this, but it doesn't sound like a bad idea at all.

What idea's do you have? If you could come up with a plan, and a realistic proposal, you could generate much interest.

Put in some effort. Then get back to us.

I agree with brick. You could be into something. We put the exhaust heat into Chillers(gas-fired) to generate air conditioning but your idea can be worked on. Register yourself first so we know its you rather than being confused as there are too many guest contributing.

You can peruse this CR4 thread. A search through CR4 should turn up another thread or two, I think.

Brick is always on track. A great app would be a large tryck traveling long distance with a cold box behind it.

Brainstorm challenge !

Maybe use surplus heat from exhaust system to run closed circuit "steam" (or other gas) turbine generator. Turbine goes around and around and the generator cranks out electricity, charging a large capacity battery system. Do what you will with the batteries and extra electricity.

Happy Trails !

the heat may be used to power a small adsorbtion system. I'm not an expert with these systems but the do need a heat source to run the cycle. Don't think they can operate while bouncing around in an engine compartment but maybee its possible!

The operation of absorbtion refrigeration systems work quite well running down the road. Anyone with a propane fridge in their RV can attest to that. Generally they should be kept fairly level, but the sloshing action of a vehicle in motion keeps the ammonia mixture sufficiently in the concentric ring heating area used in most systems.
