PLC Starters

02/09/2009 8:12 PM

Gents,

The New Year is here and for this semester PLCs are on the menu.

With all the varied experience out there, does anyone know of a good text on PLC programming??

If possible, I would like to know the Title and ISBN so I can chase a copy down.

Thanks & Regards,
Sapper.

Depends on the PLC. Some are ladder logic, some are flowchart based etc. It all depends on the application, budget, timeframe etc. You might start here: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Introductory_PLC_Programming

Take a look at http://www.plcs.net/contents.shtml.

Then take a read through Hugh Jack's book. It's online and free. http://claymore.engineer.gvsu.edu/~jackh/plcbook.html

If you follow some of the links through plc.net and other sites out there you'll find a wealth of knowledge.

If you have the resources to buy...or have access to a PLC and the program...then certainly that is your best learning tool. One can read for a month but...

Good luck in your endeavor.
