Neutral Grounding Resistor (NGR) - Unspliced Bonding Jumper

02/10/2009 12:08 AM

Is it require the unspliced equipment bonding jumper from 6.6kv NGR (Neutral grounding resistor) to switchgear, if NGR and switchgear both already grounded with same grounding mesh of 120sqmm conductor. In this regard NEC article 250.36 shows for high impedance grounded neutral system of 480 to 1000 volts shows NGR and swichgear connected with unspliced equipment bonding jumper.

Read your codes... if the code in your jurisdiction calls for it then install it. Pretty simple.

NEC 2002 article 250.36 high impedance grounded neutral system for 480 to 1000 volts system, But in our case system voltage is 6.6kv and both equipments NGR and switchgear already grounded with common earthing mesh grid. please answer in our case what code is applicable NEC or IEEE. If both equipments already grounded, is it require the unspliced equipment bonding jumper between NGR and switchgear and what will be the size of bonding jumper if 5MVA 11kv/6.6kv transformers grounded through NGR.
