Normalisation of API 5 L Gr B pipes

02/14/2009 2:12 AM

Can anyone tell me if normalised API 5L Gr B pipes are available in the market?

When i checked, our supplier told that it will come with hot rolled..

Can anyone come across with this problem?

Thanks in advance

Why don't you try the commercial section.

This link

shows a control cooled pipe (this is treated equivalent to normalizing)

Yes normalised pipe is available but you will have to be clear when ordering. Your supplier probably does not wish to put the pipe through a separate heat treatment process. There is a supply condition in ISO 3183 designated 'normalising formed' or 'normalising rolled' which demand more manufacturing control than 'hot formed'. Check with your supplier what they specifically mean by 'hot rolled' and whether they control the final finishing temperature correctly.
