Bound to be a difference or they wouldn't have different part numbers.

The SG3525 part is an old Silicon General pulse width modulator used for switching power supplies. Not sure about the KA part. The UC3843 is a Unitrode switch mode power supply controller. Unitrode was bought by Texas Instruments. Check out the website below for your chip numbers.
