Voltage drop calculations

03/04/2009 1:46 AM

Dear all

I want to know the voltage drop calculation for the below values.

Current (I) in the circuit is 1000A

Voltage is 415V

Length is 800m

What is the cable size for the above circuit.

Please send me the calculation part for the above values

Thank you,

This sounds like a homework question.

Could you please provide more information on why you are asking such a question. Are you a student or is this a general interest enquiry?

Hi jack,

I am a trainee electrical design engineer.

I am involving one project. In this project we have to give the cable size for the circuit which is from Main Distribution Panel (MDP) to Floor Distribution Panel (FDB) which has circuit breaker rating of 1000A,ACB.The distance from MDP to FDP is 800 Mtrs. For that we have to consider voltage drop also.

As far as i know, 3 Runs X 3.5C 400 sq.mm AYFY cable should be proper size.is it correct?

I wanna know the voltage drop calculations for this.

Please share your knowledge with me.

Thank you

Hi there,

This will vary according to country as well as cable specs. As stated in earlier posts goto aberdare cables - dowload cable booklet. Use calculations.

Regards,

Craig
