What do you want to run them for? What is the application? And do you know Linux?

You can run there either linux. But you've to be ready to spent a month (the least) to get worked all these devices (wifi, bluetooth, video and sound server etc). IM client and Skype could be a mess too.

Save original linux somewhere then make a try.

Can you run Debian on Acer Aspire? Yes, certainly. I have run Debian on Acer Aspire for four years: great system. The Aspire was a bit short on RAM and didn't have a DVD burner, so I upgraded. But Debian worked great on it. no problem.

You don't need a DVD burner to run linux of course .

Go to debian.org for information about the memory requirements.
