Camera problem

03/08/2009 12:35 AM

Hi all,

I've got a Sony erricsson K300 VGA camera phone.

Can I get details about the camera module, and can I use it for transmitting Images from a RC glider or a RC bot?

Thanx

If you are trying to build a poor man's predator type surveillance vehicle, forget it, that is classified information. And possession of such a device is viewed with suspicion by homeland security. This is not a clandestine list for people wanting to surrepticiously make stealth weapons.

Why would this be a Homeland Security Issue?

I can buy a kit at almost any RC store to do the same thing. I think he is asking about how to use his phone which he already owns to do it. Rather than buying a seperate camera & reciver for his RC toys.

Statement of requirements

Is the point to have fun designing and implementing or to get the job done? If you have cell service where you will use the glider or bot and a plan with unlimited data transfer, I suggest using software such as what you can find at getjar.com (which has a pretty good search engine). If you don't have cell service with unlimited data, I'd go scotchdrnkr's way. Otherwise you have to take out the camera module which you may or may not find documentation for and add signal transmission components to your custom board, which may be fun for you. Or not. Do keep in mind that VGA resolution might look pretty bad if you take pictures from a distance so do check that VGA is enough for you before you get too far.

Personally, if I were happy with VGA resolution, I'd go get a $20 toy camera instead of risking damage to my cell.

Thanx for your suggestions, But, i was looking for the details about the camera module itself, so that I can link the camera to a external transmitter.

Also, I got a spare cellphone, so I thought its better to use the cell's camera.
