Can some tell how to determine the depth and width of pad footing for a portal frame.

soil type

and what the heck is a portal frame?

and what does it weigh

and does it move

does it carry other loads

Also, what is the strure used for? Does it have a use FS that must be considered? What is the acceptable settlement and differential settlement? What is the seismic zone and local building requirements?
