Luminous Lenses Falling From Suspended Ceiling

03/30/2009 3:19 PM

I work for a school district, in one of our sites the suspended ceilings have luminous lenses that are falling through the T-grid. Would you know of any clips that are made to hold these lenses in place?

These lenses are the in troffer light fixtures? If so they shouldn't fall out. If they are just laid in to the T-grid then they where most likely for troffer and are too small. A plastic supplier can provide them cut to the proper size.

I suspect you had an installer similar to the one I saw many years ago.

While visiting a building I came upon a guy trimming away at a lens. Since he was working in the waiting area, we got into talking while he worked. He said that he was trimming the thing because they didn't fit into the ceiling.

Thinking that the guy knew what he was doing, I watched as he climbed his ladder and tried to fit the new panel in. Guess what? It was now too small.

regards,

Vulcan

Yeh! Better to measure twice then cut once, but people get in a hurry. I've learned that lesson myself on a home project with these lenses. Sometimes the T-grid can get in the way and it is awkward to install them correctly.

You can use paper clips as a temp fix. try the jumbo vinyl coated ones. best to get new lenses made to fit.
