Why Do Some Order Pickers Have Screens?

03/31/2009 4:57 AM

Hi,

I am looking a buy a high level order picker. Some models have a screen (ala windscreen) within their hoist frame, while others don't. I'm just wondering what is the purpose for this screen. Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance.

How about protecting the person if something falls off the skid while it is being pulled off the high rack. All depends on what is being handled. Some people are not as careful in operating the picker. They move it before the skid is down near floor. And they do have to pull a skid clear of stack before they can lower it.

Hello ricgoh

As was mentioned, they do offer an added layer of protection from falling or protruding objects, but are also provided to reduce drafts for the operator's comfort since most order pickers are driven in the direction of the windscreen.

This really comes into play if the unit is being used outdoors. Good for keeping the bugs out of your eyes and teeth.

Anyway, they are well worth the small extra cost.
