Ammeter Interface with PLC

04/01/2009 11:05 AM

I got a Diesel Generator with indications::"RPM Meter","Voltmeter" and "ammeter".Now im willing to interface the ammeter with my PLC.I got an analog module of my PLC.So inorder to interface the ammeter with my PLC the ammeter should give analog output so that it would be easy for me to directly interface ammeter with PLC analog module.

What to do?

Try Lee Dickens (usual disclaimer). There might be something in their range of signal converters that may be applicable.

Read this page: http://www.plcman.co.uk/analog/

What you need to do next is to program the process image into the PLC or as it is often said, program the PLC to process the information according to the data interval.

Good luck

good day,

I did a similar exercise recently and used a current transformer with the appropriate ratio and a (0-5amp input / 4-20ma output), signal converter relay. You can also select a convereter relay that gives a 1-10v output signal.

hope this helps, regards,

Leon

Thanks friend!

I have a city transformer and i connected a 1000W load across it and it gave me 0.11Amp. The idea of city transformer is clear to me but i have really know idea about a signal convertor relay that gives 0-5V 0r 0-10V .So i shall be thankful to you if you give me some important brief about it and what is its actual know if i want to buy it from market i mean its popular name also attach me some of its pictures if possible

Thanks!

otherwise you have to use an ad converter which will change your

ammeter,s analogue output to the BCD(digital)form.set the minimum and the maximum limits of it and get the alarm signals out of that.also you can create the text related to these signals.and can put conditions to run the additional generator if the load exceed.its depend on you that how deeply you create the logic.

regards sohail
