1977 Yamaha DT 400 - Seat Removal

04/05/2009 9:04 PM

I just bought this bike and haven't figured out how to get the seat off. The oil resovoir cap is half covered by the seat so I assume the seat comes off.

Look for two hex nuts under the fender, near the rear portion of the seat. That's a common attachment point for bikes of that era.

Seat comes off by removing one bolt on each side of the seat about 2/3 of the way back. Good luck

Thanks found them, too bad the seat isn't hinged, now I need a funnel to top up the 2 stroke oil it could get messy on a road trip haha
