Looking For Shaft Clip

04/08/2009 1:44 PM

It's been close to 30 years since we bought these and for the life of me I can not remember what they are called.

Simply squeezing at the left opens it up to be able to slide on a shaft. And in this case the shaft is 0.125" OD.

What is the name of these guys? I just am drawing a blank on them.

Tanks Everyone. And hey who do you all know that has them..

Thanks at least i now know the name to look for.

It looks big but that one is made to fit onto a 0.125" shaft pretty small and the company suggested doen'ty gop that small.

But THANKS for the name!

not sure what your shaft is driving, i've seen couplings with allen set screws that might provide a positive mechanical secured fastner..good luck,, i've used these in the past , but not my first choice .. gl

It has almost nil force on it,

A shaft that is rotating 30 deg or so and then back again supported on one side, it then passes through a bushing and this clip keeps it from wandering out.

I've seen small ones like that used for hose clamps in low pressure applicaitons and fuel pumps on cars.

Does CTL stand for "close to loosen" or is there som eother wonderful explaination?

Or Clamp, or Crimp to loosen?

& yeah, half of Australia's vehicles would have one or two in them. I would call the a hose clamp.

Yes, it's a hose clamp. Often replaceable with a stainless steel type with screwdriver/hex tool.

i HAVE NEVER SEEN A HOSE CLAMP THIS TINY, THE od OF THE HOSE WOULD BE 1/8" 0.125" oops sorry about caplock..

in addition it really doesnt squeeze all that tightly like a hose clamp that looks like it would, notice the tiny dimple also to help it hold onto the shaft.

Looks more like a retaining clip for a small device like a potentiometer. Example: A dual pot with an internal/external shaft.(Bass/treble)(Balance/Front/back).

Thanks to everyone that has given a name to this little clip.

But I have hit a huge roadblock in finding one.

I still have a few here so I know at one time they were made, But i can not seem to find any this tiny!

It is made to work on a 1/8" 0.125 inch shaft.

Anyone find any? I just can not seem to find any this tiny yet i know they have to be out there someplace.

Thanks Joe
