Snapped RC antenna

04/12/2009 3:05 AM

Hi guys. Does anyone know how to repair a snapped RC controller antenna? The end piece is fine, but the penultimate end piece is the problem. The very end of that, is bent and has snapped, so the end piece just falls out. Thanks Bondy111

replacement antennae can be bought at your local electronics supplier.

Take the box apart and off to Radio Shack!

Sorry, dude - what a pain.

Maybe you can upgrade to a flexy antenna?

I assume that you are talking about the transmitter (you neglected to say!) and this antenna must be exactly set up and exactly the same as the original one.

(A receiver antenna is less sensitive to minor length changes...)

The best place to buy is from the manufacturer, but if you cannot obtain one, carefully remove the rest of the original and lay it out, fully extended, measure the exact length and buy exactly the same......length is important in this instance!!

If the antenna has a center loading coil, the problem gets a bit more difficult, but most modern transmitters are bottom loaded for ease of manufacturer, I assume that yours is too......

Fine tuning may be needed for maximum output, you need to talk to someone who knows the unit type about that!!

Yes, sorry, I was talking about the transmitter. It is bottom loaded. Could the end piece be fixed into position, so it doesn't collapse, but prevents buying a new transmitter?

Please place good pictures of all the bits, its difficult to understand fully.....a picture is worth a 1000 words....make sure they are good focussed pictures....

I would never buy a new transmitter for that reason.......but maybe I will change my mind after seeing the pictures!!!

Az least 3000.,,,,,,Good work.

I see no reason to buy a new transmitter, all you need is to go to Maplin or similar in the UK, or a good model shop, and order a new antenna.....

It should be as close as possible the same length, but as long as this is true, even if it has more or less sections, this does not matter......

I am sure that you can make up a good solid connection for the bottom coil in some manner, soft soldering a ring for a screw connection of spade end connector or something with a small gas lamp is not a bad idea......

I personally see no problem here my friend.....and be more careful in the future with your "long bits"!!!
