Omron Inverter Problem

04/20/2009 5:56 AM

Hi all

I have a problem with a Omron E7 inverter (18.5 kW) in the sense that when I press the remote jogging button the motor is not turning. If the start button is pressed it operates fine. I get the signal at the inverter and it also indicates if it is in Forward or Reverse jogging mode, but the frequency stays on zero. The Jog frequency reference is set on 6.00 Hz. Have any one had this problem before and is there some setting to rectify this problem because I can not find it.

Thanks

SCOT

This does not seem to be related to blood pressure.

First check the connection and wiring between the button and the controller. The contact surface might also be dirty.

Then you have to check the contact on the legs of the chips.

Use gold wherever you can.

and then . . . .

I have to ask, you are in fact pushing in and "holding" the Jog button right?

hello

Please make sure the following

Remote / local selection-if you want to operate from remote , you need to turn Drive in to remote mode to accept your input ( normally Keypad as considered as Local )

Wiring check

try to increase jog frequency -25Hz and check , due to heavy load / moment of inertia -6 Hz may not adequate to turn the motor .

gut luck

bye

Is this the first time you have tried this or has it worked before?

It sounds like a logic conflict, to me. You are making the Jog command and the speed is set at 6.00Hz but when you apply it 'runs' ('JOG' light ON but NOT 'RUN' or 'FWD' lights, importantly) at zero speed.

This is most likely because another input says 'Don't Run' or you need a 'RUN' input as well or there is a parameter setup conflict.

Be aware, some inverters accept the JOG command as a speed and ramp only but you also need to close the RUN command too!!

Reassess the wiring and all parameters that have been changed from default to review and you should find the cause thta doesn't seem so apparent now. or, default back to factory settings the start again with just the Jogging command to see when the problem occurs.

Hope this methodology may help, good luck, or check with a local Omron man!

Hi Guys

Thank you all for your inputs.

I learned something new today and it solved my problem within 5 minutes.

I was very sure that my problem was a setting fault, so I went through the settings over and over, but could find nothing. I then learned that you could copy the program from another inverter on to the operating panel, swap the panel to the inverter thats not working and download it again onto that inverter. It took me a day and a half to find this out, but it solved my problem.

Greetings

Scot,

There are some settings you should look at:

1. Change reference speed from 0Hz to 25Hz for test purpose

2. Make sure you connect a jumper for drive enable on the control terminal strip if you are going to use the keypad to increase or decrease speed.

3. If you are going to use a speed pot make sure that your reference control is setup to remote and connect the pot to the appropriate control terminals labeled 0-10V

4. Setup your jog speeds according to your application.

5. Setup your limits on your speed for min 0Hz and 60Hz for max.

I think this should help you. If you need any further help let me know.
