Yes, more info should be provided, but I will give a tentative yes.

With the following stipulations:

  • the condition of the vessel in the vicinity of the hot-tap is well known
  • a professional, experienced company performs the work with STRICT safety procedures.
  • the mechanical design of the nozzle has be done (reinforcement calcs, welding procedure, MAWP, etc..)
  • any applicable NDT is performed.
  • the work is per your jurisdictional requirements for repairs/alterations (API 510, National Board, .....) and your regulatory inspector agrees.

If you are looking for guidance, please refer to API 2201:

Just a thought - remember to open the valve before drilling. The sight of a hot tap machine stuck to the outside of a pressure vessel for a year or two is extremely embarrasing.

Yes, it is a practical to install a nozzle into a pressurized vessel by hottaping, but there must be a study to take into consideration all circumstances conditions such as : is the nozzle located at vapor portion or liquid portion? is it mandatory for creating such flowrate inside the vessel or not? ... etc.

Q- "Is it possible to put nozzle by Hot Tapping on a pressurised Vessel with Hydrocarbon liquid inside?"

A- Yes it is possible.

Is there something more to your inquiry, or does this sum it up?
