MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TO ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

04/21/2009 3:08 AM

I graduated in Mechanical Engineering (HND) in 1986, but my last 13 years of work experience had been in Electrical engineering companys ABB & SIEMENS - Power and control Engineering; to be specific Switchgear production.

Presently, 'am heading a switcgear production workshop. Due to all these development, I have enrolled for a PGD, Electrical Engineering in a University. My ultimate aim is to have MSC in Electrical Engineering. could any one there please guide me on this. I believe it is possible to switch from Mechanical to Electrical with my background.

While possible, it may be that an electrical engineering qualification is less appropriate than a management qualification now.

Lots of mechanical engineers have made the jump and succeeded. I see no reason why you would be an exception considering your experience.

Really it's almost the same thing. Simply convert torque to volts and you're nearly halfway done.
