Relevance of Microsoft Certificate

You have to be joking, right? Are you a plant placed in our midst by the all powerful Microsoft and my good friend, Bill what's his name? Get serious! Do you seriously think we are going to buy that?

DUNCAN61....I have more of these certifications than the average bear. I also have an advanced degree in telecommunications. ``i was one of the original Novel CNE's. I have seen the growth in these certifications bloom unchecked.

You must have training in the non vendor influenced aspects of the technology of your field of interest. The vendor based training slants your training to THEIR decisions of what products and services the industry requires. Case in point is the unbelievable job that CISCO has done with their marketing of the "CCIE" certification. I am the first to acknowledge that the amount of product training required to get this certification is first rate, just ask anyone who has taken the written exam and then the 8hr practical test, if it was "HARD"

INMHO invest in your own training, that is no vendor specific and then if you want to add this vendor training..go for it....but realize that it is very slanted and may be leading to the use of a less than perfect solution to a problem.

get the vendor independent information then evaluate the vendors solutions without bias and apply the best solution.
