Could you give more information like:

What goes in the pipes?

What pressure do they work under?

Where will the pipes run: underground, on piperacks...?

The fluid could be crude oil, diesel or gasoline, pressure will not exceed 30 barg and the location will be underground.

Thanks for your help

I have no experience of hydrocarbons in non-metallic pipelines, but quite a lot in firewater - underground - service. Properly specified, manufactured and installed they can be very reliable. The problems come with joining, pressure testing, inspection, proper covering, joining of standpipes, hydrants etc etc.

Inspection criteria and methods for the joints is for me a major shortcoming - I understand what I am looking at when I see a good quality Xray of a weld, with the non-metallics I only get a visual - does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling for hydrocarbon service, but then what do I know?

I definitely would not discount it, but would need some convincing. Also not sure how useful an intelligent pig or some such thing would be for inspecting such a line?

The flow will be not more than 500 cubic meter/hour and the size about 24 inches.

Thank you for support

I have done some NDT on "Plastic Pipelines" before. I know that they do have a wide variety of advantages (and also disadvantages). I know that there are a lot of companies in Africa that use these plastice pipes on various projects. I think you will be surprised to see how many companies can help you if you google + "plastic pipes".

It is not garbled - it is a standard measure used by most of the world's population.

bar = unit of pressure

g = gage pressure (above atmospheric)

barg = bar gage
