Vacuum Pump Performance Curve

05/02/2009 3:42 PM

Hello! I'm working on scroll type Dry vacuum Pump, I have two questions in row

1. How to calculate trapped area of Archimedean spiral (my knowledge about integral calculus is very poor so your detail explanation will be highly appreciated.)

2. How to determine performance curve as deliver by vacuum pump manufacturers, (displacement vs. Vacuum level), if there any particular software please suggest.

Thank You

Regards

Bali

These basic informations are very impotent, are not these found in manufacturer's manual/specification sheet?

I SAID! that I'm interested in developing device for vacuum pump's Performance curve. (Displacement vs Vacuum and Displacement Vs Time). Again I'm repeating How to measure displacement (in LPM, CFM, etc) under vacuum.

Hope my interest is clear now.

Checked book's content, it has one chapter Vacuum Measurement which is mainly dealing measuring devices, my requirement is to plot same curve as reputed vacuum manufactures provide.

I guess there is some software which measure air flow rate and vacuum level same time and plot on graph. Its an important issue for us so valuable feedback will be highly appreciated.

I'm trying to get a hold of my contact at Kurt J. Lesker because they have a systems design program I played with a few years ago. When I get a hold of them I will contact you again.

Ok i talked to my guy at Kurt J. Lesker and they have a program called VacTran that might work for you. I think they even have a demo version so you can see if it will work. Go to: www.lesker.com and up at the top right side of the screen is VacuFIND search engine, type in "vactran" and you will find all the info you need. If that doesn't help I would consider contacting them directly. Hope this helps.

Thank you for understanding my requirement and solution centric approach,

I searched Lesker site but demo version link is not available, its lil bit confusing, googled and got some links in Russian language but same result, Well i gueserstanding is Vactran is mainly for vacuum system instead of vacuum pump (Plz comment).

For better understanding I'm again repeating requirement " Looking for method or Device (Hardware & Software) to measure Vacuum Pumps' performance curves same as deliver by vacuum pump manufacturers."

Thank You

What model and manufacturer? If this is a common pump you should be able to get this info off of the manufacturer websight. I know that Edwards, Leybold and Varian all have this info posted.
