CR4 Swap for Hobbyists?

05/05/2009 1:42 AM

The definition of junk is something that you keep for ten years and throw away two weeks befor you need it.

Now I know that all hobbyists are junk collectors and that we often find ourselves out of storage space and have to throw away some stuff.

Since this forum is for hobbyists I thought that we could start some redundant components page where we could exchange parts with one another.

Actually garage sales were invented for this so that you buy somebody's rubbish this week and sell it at you sale next week.

This page could also serve as a search centre for parts.

To start off I am looking for control equipment for a five axis welding robot. Anything available?

Since I do not see the Hobbyists forum Thread on the selection menu I am posting this as General.

PlbMak appears to have quite a collection already. Garage Sales must be very popular in East Anglia......

He didn't say it was a steam powered robot - your stuff is safe.

I'm looking for a VEX robotic controller and program module.

For your welder are you looking for basic I/O stuff?

I have a complete mechanical Automan welding robot but I have no control equipment for it. I need the power supply, the computer, the teaching unit and pendant, all the cables and the required software.

If anybody has these items lying about collecting dust please contact me.

My e-mail address is vniekerkj@dwaf.gov.za.

Thanks.

I am one of the biggest pack rats. I just built very large i=beam and grating racks in the back of my shop just to hold all the many pallets of stuff like turbine shafts and rotor, numerous new old stock rheostats, 6 fairly large gear boxes, rebuilt boiler soot blower carriages, valve actuators, new old stock gears, sprockets chain, 100's of new old stock bearings, all kinds of refractory materials, lathes, milling machines and the list goes on. I built the racks in my shop mainly because I filled up the 40'x8'x8' con-ex container and I had very little room for actually fabricating stuff as the shop was built to do in the beginning. A place to list swap items would be very nice IMO. I am currently working on adding another 1000 square feet to my 3000 square foot shop to house my hot glass shop and blacksmithing forge and tools. I am currently looking for some quick change gear box parts for an old atlas craftsman lathe I am refurbishing.

A buddy of mine that does automation programing has an old robot sitting in his shop in Atlanta Ga. I will check and see what kind of stuff he has with it.
