I'll bite - are you asking about a small unmanned ROV (remotely operated vehicle), or a small manned submarine, or a nuclear powered warship?

Re: Submarine design

How big, how many?

I'm sure that I saw some "declassified" designs back in the '80s while researching nuclear arms and such.

It was amazing what was released into public domain after the statutes of limitations expired. Of course the information was outdated, but still practical.

I could also suggest a modest shipyard that is currently looking for additional work and I know they already have built a few subs in the past for research groups.

Should be a fun project. Any kickbacks? spotters fee?

I'm posting as guest, but if you're really serious, then put a reply in expressing the necessary detail and I'll contact you.

Such a deep question needs some fluid answers. Other things are merely a drop in the ocean. Spraying questions like that around will bring a tide of answers that don't hold water. I'd drop it before the flood of answers brings you out in a cold sweat.

Is this bait for a recruitment into a new testing programme ? Just wondering, 'cos Wiki says ;

"Collapse depth, popularly called crush depth, is the submerged depth at which a submarinee's hull will collapse due to pressure. This is normally calculated.....". Ya don't say !

"You call this bad? I'll tell you what bad is....Bad is passing test depth at 80 feet per second with a thirty degree down bubble. Compared to that, this is a walk in the park."

The $97 million Tango Bravo program, launched in 2005, aims to identify techniques and technologies to overcome identified Technology Barriers in order to reduce cost and increase the flexibility of future designs. The program by the U.S. Navy and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) seeks to rationalize submarine platform infrastructure requirements while matching Virginia-class capabilities and offering the potential to accommodate an enhanced payload.

There may be a help, but it is not forthcoming, with all this fish talks where is the cat call. Sooner or later a cat with a bow and arrow is going to surface.

And when he surfaces ask how did he un-surface himself in the first place.

Tke your laptop and stand in the beach and if he surfaces there wou have a submarine.

But if it is in your room, you may have a Volcano.
