They are all expensive -- It is a niche market, low volume and specific applications.....I have concidered making my own.....but am using Stantrol.

Forget about building your own sensors. It looks simple from the theory but in the field, these measurements are really tricky. The performance of any of these sensors is application-dependent and the corporations dedicated to these technologies developed specific sensors for specific applications, using propietary materials (specialty glass membranes, etc.) and endless tests.

Cost effectiveness of such sensors is not related to the price tag but on the time they can work measuring correctly. You would be surprised to know what is the actual cost of cheap sensors.

Go to the people that really know about this. I would make a suggestion but I don't want to post commercial ads.

If you want to make a school project, go for it. If it is for the production, look for the best. It is cheaper than wasting resources.
