I read somewhere that one of the disadvantages of a solidly earthed transformer is that it posess a shock hazard should there be an earth fault. Why ? If my electrical knowledge is correct, equiptments are generally grounded (e.g electric motors) so as to give the chassis the same potential with earth. Why then would there be an electric shock if the chasis of either the transformer or its connected equipments are properly grounded, since the chasis and the feet of a person are on the same potential?
