Felix

Haven't we been over this in your other post? Your previous post said

"what's the minimum cable size to accommodate appliances with 42.3kw. I am installing LCD which requires 42.3kw and the contractor proposed 95sq.mm. I think it is too big which I presume 70sq.mm will be sufficient enough. Please assist"

You still have not told us what the voltage is. Is it 120 volts or 240 volts? The chart at this site shows cable ampacity http://www.energy-solutions.co.uk/cable_conductor.html

If the voltage is 240 volts the cable size your are suggesting is much too large. At 240 volts the load is only 30 amps. The chart shows 70 sqmm has an ampacity of 265 amps. Before we go any further you need to provide the correct voltage. You may have a voltage drop problem.

Hi Wareagle,

Both of these standards in the link only refer to vessels up to 24m hull length. Although these current densities would probably be ok for most terrestrial application it may be neccesary for the poster to refer to standards related to wiring in public buildings if that is where his screen will be sited. The standard there may be quite stricter.

regards

Chas

I does not matter whether this is a cruise ship or an out house. We can not answer the question until Felix tell us what the VOLTAGE is.

FELIX what is the voltage?

We are using 240volts and the maximum current load of this LED Giant Screen is 50kw. Will this 90 sq.mm cable sufficient to accomodate current

50 kw at 240 volts gives amps = 208 amps. You need to check the distance to ensure voltage dop is not a problem. The site below shows 95 mm2 70C cable has an ampacity of 330 amps. 90mm2 is not listed.
