Generator Set - Pipe Size for Fuel Lines

05/19/2009 7:09 AM

Hi all! What is the pipe size to be use on my genset that consumes 2.6 gpm diesel fuel. The distance from the fuel tank to the genset is 30m. Please let me know. Thanks. Is there a formula in finding that problem.

Just used the standard fuel line, 1/2 inches would be sufficient. You can refer back to your generator dealers for more information.

Is the genset inside and the tank outside? Can there be a large differential in temperature?

If so... you might want to think about installing a 3' long setion of larger diameter pipe to act as a fuel warmer, a common practice here in the north.

Yes, the genset located inside and the tank located outside. During winter the temp. is 9 ºf is this affect the flow of supply.

Fuel viscosity increases with dropping temperature, so select the system wisely with 9degF in mind.
