05/21/2009 3:48 AM

All

Some Butterfly valves can be treated as Control valve.

How can one identify them.

Thanks

A butterfly used as a control valve will have an analog actuator on it, varying the disc angle in response to a varying input signal.

hi

As Mr.PWSlack said it consists of an actuator and by changing the actuator stem the disc position changes this results in change in flow. Hence this is treated as Control valve. This is similar to that of Ball valve. based upon the requirement in some cases it can be used as uni-directional valve.

Hi there,

A lot depends on the class shutoff you need. Download the fisher cotnrol valve hand book from www.emmerson.com

It will explain in a lot more detail what you need.

Regards,

Craig

This butterflyvalves are quick opening valves and generally used for HI flow rates and less pressure drop , they can be identified as how it is installed ,6'' line size may require 4'' butterfly valves for the required flow rate because they are line size valves. Reducing the size of the butterfly valve can give a better control valve opening.this valves as better control valves on reduced pipe size , as similar yo the control valves .
