Making threads, machining components etc do not have any mandatory requirements. All the codes and standards are on the end result in these cases.

All the codes, procedures, procedure and operator qualifications are in special processes. Cutting thread in pipes are not one of them.

Qualifications and standards are dependant on the country you are working in.

For Thread Making - There are plenty of thread standards (ANSI, BS, ISO, AS) and even gauges that you can buy off the shelf....such as ring and or plug gauges.....that can be used to check if someone can produce a thread.......in many cases people tell you they can cut or grind threads......sometimes they are all talk..........but Ridgid (a pipe company) have a pipe cutting machine that an unskilled person can drive to produce tapered pipe threads that many tradespeople would have trouble cutting.

I do hope this helps if not i can be contacted at http://www.alnoproductservices.com.au

happy engineering
