Software for Capacitor Placement

Good day:

I just want to ask if somebody have a simple software on capactor placement on 13.8 kv distribution lines. Our utility have no capacitors on the 13.8 kv lines. I was hired last month as Enginering manager from abroad. We had a problem of low power factor, and power quality.I intend to purchase capacitors, however I need a program for proper placement for optimum result. Can anybody help me.Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

its is simple you should consult with any pannel making agency and tell them to install a 350 kvar capastor panel

How did you come up with a capacitor size of 350 kvar. You have no information to determine anything.

What is the system PF? Are you trying to reduce load on the substation transformer or reduce line loading?

Most distribution modeling packages have the capability you want. I have worked with Synergee and Paladin DesignBase (for DesignBase, the capacitor placement module is a separate program which uses the system model database).

If your utility is using any type of modeling software, it may have a capacitor sizing & placement module in it, or one may be available for a reasonable cost. You must have feeder load information for the software to work. At minimum, power factor and kw is required for the feeders in question.
