UPS Ratings

05/29/2009 4:33 AM

Dear Sir,

We have to install a plate processor using 3 phase input supply (380-415V/50Hz).The machine requires 4kW max. on any one phase with 16 A per phase current consumption. Please let me know the formula to calculate the total power of the machine in kW & a formula to calculate the rating in kVA of the required UPS (power back-up source). Whether a 5kVA or a 15 kVA UPS should be installed?

Sanjeev

as we all know that Ups system is unbalanced load system .so if one phase have current of 16A then totel current in three phase is 16*3=48A

So totel Kw of load is v*i*cos$

sothis wll equal to 230*48*.95=10.488 kw or 11.04 kva

so you should install a 15 kva ups
