If you mean its tripping on either inverter overload or motor overload when it really isn't overloaded (or even runing the motor?), it's possible the curent detection circuit has failed and thinks any load is maximum, for example.

If it is OL tripped with no motor connected, the VFD has failed, I think.

can be a short circuit on the output circuit , usually an IGBT Module.

I understand that you have this fault with or without a motor connected, you might have a bad output stage (no worth to fix it, unless it's an over the thousand bucks unit), you should check the motor thermal switch or the thermal overload contact connected to it, since it is more likely a thermal problem (MOL) rather than a current problem (ILIM) or (OC).

Check for the voltage rating. Is your inverter 230V and you are plugging it to 460V or viceversa? If not, return the drive to your local distributor.

Need more information, did anyone change the parameters, is it a direct drive from the motor or is it going through a gear box, what is the make / mod of the drive, has the motor been checked, etc.?
