Use an adapter-piece, with different flanges each end.

That's an interesting question!

Metric pipe has OD as the nominal diameter. Is DIN pipe the same? (there may be more than one metric and DIN pipe standard) The dimensions of metric pipe are different from inch-standard pipes.

Flange standards - ASME/ANSI, metric (NP6, NP10 etc) and the obsolescent BS10 (to name 3, there are others) are mainly concerned with the bolting - PCD, number and dia. of boltholes. I don't know whether flanges are available to any particular standard with a range of central hole diameters (for slip-ons) or weld-neck details to suit the pipe it will be used with.

Anybody out there know?

On class difference, you can find allowable pressure for ASME flanges at a range of temperatures on the web. (at room temperature it's 3 - 4 times the nominal flange class). Can also select the pipe for your pressure, but for most applications the flange is the limiting factor. Ordinary steel pipe with wall thickness ~ 0.05*dia is OK for over 100 bar.

Did you try this site?

http://pdf.directindustry.com/pdf/magnetrol/technical-handbook-provides-important-conversions-chemical-properties-equivalents-and-pipe-data/Show/6020-17980-_37.html

There are going to be quite a bit of difference in the PCD and holes, as per our experience (we land up with lot of instruments in DIN flange for our ANSI equipments

Hello sb

I don't think the OP is asking about differences between ASME and DIN flanges, but about joining DIN pipe to ASME flanges.

Ref my #2, I can't find any more data for DIN or metric pipes. What I said about metric pipe having OD as nominal is true for plastic pipe. In UK PE and PP pipe are only available in metric, uPVC and ABS are available in metric and inch sizes. But maybe that's not the case with steel pipes, perhaps they are still made to inch standards. Obviously the nominal bore could be stated in mm (rounded to a sensible figure) instead of inch, as in any case the actual bore varies with the pipe class.

Anybody out there know?

But he asked about how to deal with class difference so i thought just about the equivalents.

BTW : did you had a look on the catalogue on the direct idustry- the first one?

all the 44 pages are extremely information packed (In fact I had converted to pdf, on the top button, jpg<>pdf, down loaded and bound them in soft book.

So I thought about sharing that with you all.

I had a look at the direct industry site. There's a lot of information there, I'll add it to my favourites, but nothing about DIN or metric pipe (if there is such a thing in steel or other metal). It doesn't mention DIN flanges either, looks like it's intended mainly for US.

Be nice if msalah85 came back and clarified his query. No sign of him since the OP!

Some times It do happen (and more often than I like to see it happening)

They have decided to do It, I just ask people if they say yes I do it and say it is as per advice o so many people. (Even better if they give link)

In case they don't anyway I am going to do it (I have a pipe and a flange - let me weld it and see what happens ) after all it is a pipe and a flange only isn't it ?

There are some comparison tables available here:
