India (Gate - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a prerequisite for the MTech course in full time.

However which city ? try your local college - You want a part time or a distance education (correspondence type?)

Of course for part time you have to get in a local college, you can not be in Delhi and doing a part time in Chennai college?

As far as I know (not sure) the part time does not need the GATE, but a few reputed ones did have their own admission tests for the part time M tech (at least in our time, and even after the GATE start too). But of course in IITs or NITs you don't have a chance.

And you are in software? did you google? I did just now

http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=part+time+m+tech+in+india+%22without+GATE%22&meta=&aq=f&oq=

Results 1 - 10 of about 463 for part time m tech in india "without GATE". (0.23 seconds)

And i could see quite a few (forget IIT Links, as you open inside you find the GATE required unless you are sponsored and that too from the public sectors or Govt)

But there are still quite a few and with that check the other namse eg MS, ME etc
