Wanted: Venturi Gas Injector

06/16/2009 11:31 AM

Dear contributors,

I am looking for a Venturi injector made to operate with a high pressure gas (~100PSI / 7 Bars) as the motive force. I need to inject in the stream another gas from a lower pressure. I can live with 15-30PSI (1-2 Bars) pressure drop in the jet.

The injected gas flow is about 2-3% of the motive flow drawn from atmospheric pressure.

There will be a wide range of size needed from 10mm (1/2") to 100mm (4") pipe diameter.

I have found some vacuum generators that do this but they are set-up to multiply by 6 the motive flow but the pressure drop is much higher.

There are many Venturi manufacturers that do this with water as the motive source but I haven't found a product doing this for a all gas system.

Do you know any supplier? Thank you.

Jerguson/Jacoby-Tarbox produces these 'off the shelf'. Graham and Crolls Reynolds would be some other companies but they are more into engineered products. Schutte-Koerting is another company I have used.

You could also try Fox Eductors (www.foxvalve.com)

Hi Marcot

May I ruin everything right off by saying that many Canadians always bring their A-Game, Aye?

We do a little work with venturi injectors. Let me suggest that without knowing the flow in your 1/2" through 4" plumbing, the question is 2 to 3% of what?

You do not need a venturi for each pipe size if you use a by-pass system. With a by-pass your pressure drop may easily be lower than 10 PSID. We start at 10 PSID and adjust up or down as desired.

You will need some controls, regulator, flow control or needle valve and a flow meter to show when you have adjusted to ingest 2 to 3% of what.

The buck starts here. Tom

Thank you Tom,

This seems like a good way of doing it as long as there is enough suction capacity. The very low flow ratio (suction / motive) needed will probably help.

I have done some reading and begin to see what affects the final results. I still have a lot to learn though.

By the way, I am not sure if I understand your first sentence. Being a French Canadian, some aspects of the Anglo-Saxon culture still elude me. When in doubt, I assume that what people say is not an insult. I tend to see the glass half full...

Thank you for your advice.

Marco
