06/18/2009 2:15 AM

Dear sirs i am electrical engineering and looking for software which can help me in calculations of the phase balance of the panel board which in my work we use some thing like the axial sheet will made manually and i did not get it so i wounder if there any soft copy cane help me in this.

regards

Software?

Simple arithmetic will do the job.

  • Add up all the loads on the red phase
  • Do the same for the yellow phase
  • And again for the blue phase

i know but the sheet we use have many difficult equations which i didn't understand depending on if the load type as it is lighting or isolating switches or sockets and the demand load is ?and the connected load is ? and i never made this task before so if there is simple form help me

For 3 phase, a balanced loading means;

All 3 phases are of the same magnitude & Power Factor.

Using kilowatts (root 3 x E x I x cosΦ) as your means, you will be able to find out the load on each phase.

Not all of the connected load is running at the same time in most cases. The actual percent of the connected load that will in use on an average basis must be considered. This will be referred to as the load factors. Lights for instance may only be on in the evening and at night, but deep inside a factory may run 24/7. The confusing math items you are referring to are an attempt to determine the actual loading in use either by average, loading factor, or actual measured usage.

Balancing is then as simple as given by sir Slack.

I wounder about the factors which i can use in the different load cases like lighting and power sockets heaters i know in the worst cases the lighting its factor is 1 and the sockets its factor is 0.6 so i wounder about the rest type of loads.

also i am still asking about the soft copy which i can use to help me in this calculations only i record the load type and its power and factor and the phase he connected to insted of the excel sheet i use.

Since you understand the reason for the factors, that they indicate the expected percentage of actual usage, you can probably do much better predicting the load balance using your customized excel spreadsheet than with any commercial software.

Your personal expertise based on specific details will be much better than generalizations built into the standard software. Trust in yourself, you are headed in the right direction.
