If a tower is mobile, then it needs to pass under structures like street lights and bridges safely. Check height limits locally. One solution to getting a tower that is over-height underneath a bridge that is slightly low is to lower the pressure in the tyres.

Towers that are fixed need to satisfy UK building regulations:

  • public consutation on the plans through due process via the local authority planning office
  • time limit for feedback on the proposal
  • review of feedback pending approval
  • work not to start until approval is given
  • work to proceed in accordance with current building regulations

Here's a fine example of a fixed tower in Broadway, Worcestershire:

I am sure that the builder had passed all the UK building regulations (and I bet that the documents are worthing a fortune)
