Something to do with its ability to stop a moving object (the units being force applied to it parallel to ground), at least that's how it was explained to me (although I don't think I trust the lecturer as he didn't have a beard). I think that's why they have maintenance factors (when you can see the MCCB contacts thru the enclosure you should replace the MCCB as its breaking capacity has been compromised)
